This is a portrait of a dying breed of men. The horseman on the right is Ken Connelly, one of Australias great high country cattlemen. Here, he and one of his sidekicks are holding a mob of wild brumbies that had been caught up in the highlands. They are being mustered on Kens property, and out of sight, in the misty valley beyond, another young horseman is bringing up more horses to join the mob. It is early in the morning; the low sun has painted the sky gold, and the silhouetted figures are beautifully reflected in the waters of the dam. I like to think of this photo as a tribute to these hardy Australian heroes, who tragically are now being locked out of the high country by urban bureaucrats.

Every effort has been made on this Gallery site to accurately represent the vibrant colours of Ken’s images. However, due to differences in computer screens and certain other variations, the images here should only be taken as a guide.
The colour and sharpness of a finished Ken Duncan Limited Edition Print are far superior to what can be presented on a small screen.
